Great Northern Construction, Inc. was started in 1980 by Tom Birmingham and a partner who had worked together since 1975. It grew to six partners by 1984, then six partners and fourteen employees by 1986. The other partners eventually went their own way and size has varied as market conditions have fluctuated, but Tom maintains ownership and operation of the company with his son Tom and a key group of people.
